Audition for Younger Generation

Auditions for Collin County area students in 4th through 8th grade are held in January, May & August of each year.  The next auditions will take place in August. Auditions last approximately 10-15 minutes. You must have an appointment in order to audition. Call the YG Office at (972) 596-9620 to make an appointment.

Audition procedures are listed below:

You will need to come prepared to demonstrate your vocal and musical abilities by:

1. Listening to rhythm patterns and clapping them back
2. Singing scales and/or arpeggios (The sounding of the tones of a chord in rapid succession rather than simultaneously.) as played by the director
3. Singing a duet of Row, Row, Row Your Boat with another singer, staying on an individual part
4. Listen to melody patterns and singing them back
5. Sing a prepared solo song, a-cappella. This should not be a pop or rock song, but a well-known song, hymn, or selection from musical theater or school.
6. Answer questions about music reading (note values, etc.)

7. Learn the Pledge of Allegiance song on the website and be able to sing it for the director.
